Woofcast #129

A short one for you tonight. We do a bit of rumor squashing, some updates to MINI stuff around the web and some basic rambling on and on about whatever we can think of.

Looking for pictures or a way to show your pictures off? Check out Flickr, or if you are a member there already, be sure to check out the MF Flickr Group.

Delicious? Actually it’s del.icio.us which is a social bookmarking site. You can check out db’s here.

Keep a watch out for Brad Day’s upcoming audio review of the Zune. I would expect to have that ready by the middle of February.

If you are a fan of Robert in Toronto’s work, he has started his own podcast! He goes to a lot of movies with his wife, so they are reviewing them in his MINI! You can check it out over at his site or here at iTunes.

And, if you are looking for some great info on Cruising, be sure to check out My Cruise Planner, run by Michael and Patricia Babishkin. They have a great podcast too! You can find them at iTunes here.

Finally, this just in, but we will have Phil Wicks from the NAMCC on next week! Should be great.

615598-kiss-the-arse-of-a-puffin-0.jpgWatch out! We started with weather and a little Super Bowl talk. Imagine a little Gabe doing the Super Bowl shuffle. How cute.

db talks about his MINI week getting tires. Kumho Ecsta ASX instead of the SPTs. Watch for a review to follow. Did you read about the new scented tire from Kumho? Colored smoke, sure. But scented?

If you are one that is looking for an easy way to manage the older shows that aren’t included in the feed? Definitely listen in.

Plus, news of the week from Motoringfile. Including more talk on the 1 Series (yes, again) (yes I did, in fact, roll my eyes).

Oh yea…

Or the “where the hell has Randy been show”.

WARNING…this episode wasn’t edited as much as others. There might be parts here that will make your fellow cube dwellers look over at you to see what you are looking at. No f bombs or anything, but when you start talking about the H2, things can get silly.

We turn Randy loose on the mic to fill us in on what he has been up to and squash some rumors. No, he hasn’t been fixing Hummers or running the shop at a go fast ranch.

He also revisits our weekend in St. Louis, when Todd let his car be transformed into the Mule v2.0 and throws out big thanks to EVERYONE that helped Randy finish the NAMCC season last year.

Watch for changes upcoming at Webb Motorsports. Like a brand new chatroom and new monthly podcast! And don’t forget the best way to get ahold of Randy is via email. That’s randy (at) webbmotorsports (dot) com. It’s also all over the site as well.

We start by answering some questions sent in via email from what I think is our only Zune listener. He asked about the MCAW Auto-Up circuit, the Aux Port adapter and Euro Parcel shelf. Of course, if you use any of these, please feel free to share your experiences with them in the comments below! There is a website too that lists all of the recalls for BMW and MINI. I have lost the address but I will hunt through my history and try to find it. You should also be able to get that from your Service Advisor, bribing tips included.

Oh yea, Randy Webb. Takes a break from flying to sit in on the news with us tonight. We do go long but we spent a lot of time on the news with the new R56 pictures posted this week and we spent some time talking about the upcoming release of the BMW 1 Series in the US.

Be sure to check in tomorrow when we actually get to ask Randy where the hell he has been, what’s going on with Webb Motorsports and what’s coming up in the future. You are going to want to check this out for sure!

Gadget Review #3

Well, not so much a gadet review as much as it is db, Todd and Gabe talking about the iPhone.

This was recorded during Woof 124.

Great Driving

Robert sent this to me and I thought it was good enough to share.

Video: What a great driving skill

Except for the fact that they are using Hyundai’s as stunt cars, it’s a great way to waste about 8 minutes.

Starting off with some pigskin talk. Keeping these guys on track sometimes is really a chore! Turns out Gabe gets to drive the R56 Superbowl weekend, so Todd and I were telling him how best to proceed. Also, we do go long tonight with the interview.

Tonight we interviewed Andrew ‘Agro’ Ross about the upcoming AMVIV IV, but first, we spent some time talking about the Motorby pilot program, previously reported over at Motoringfile and picked up by every automotive web site as well as SlashDot.

A few quick notes about run-flat tires too.

  • All of the MINI OEM wheels will take a non-runflat tire
  • Non-run flat tires WILL improve your ride quality if you have an R50 or R53
  • Non-run flat tires WILL change the handling characteristics of your MINI
  • Non-run flat tires are cheaper than run-flats
  • Non-run flat tires won’t run flat. You will need a kit (slime, air pump), a cell phone, a AAA card or all three.

WRR Listener AGrainger has put together a great list of supplies that he carries with him over at this NAM thread. I think you might find the list a little big, but you will get some great ideas from it. Thanks Aaron!

Woofcast #124

We start the week with some good old fashioned IE bashing. We also spent quite a bit of time talking about the Apple iPhone (or whatever it will be called) but you will have to check back later in the week to hear that.

Plus, news of the week from Motoringfile.

Tune in tomorrow as we spend some time talking about the MINIUSA Motorby program and get the low-down about AMVIV from Andrew ‘Agro’ Ross.

Woofcast #123

Gabe covers his interest BMW vs. MINI JCW GP comparison and we talk about mixed nuts, the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald again, more about the upcoming events we will be attending and listener voicemails.

Again, don’t forget about the new linkage at the top of the page. All kinds of good stuff there. Hopefully those will help db in his quest to triple the number of WRR listeners.

The first Woof of the new year and we are covering, among other things, news of the last two weeks from Motoringfile. Lots of good stuff there if you aren’t already, you should be reading it every day. The best way to get all of the Motoringfile (and Whiteroofradio too!) is to subscribe.

Hopefully everyone had a great holiday and a safe new years. Thanks for sticking around for the year and into the new one. We’ve got some really cool stuff planned for ‘07 and will be taking WRR everywhere this year. Watch for us at AMVIV, MoTD and who knows where else. And, thanks to everyone who sent in the Apple purchasing tips! They are much appreciated.

AMVIV IV registration is now open! Click on over and get ye signed up! Check back next week when Agro from SinCity MINI Club will be on with us to gives us the complete lowdown

If the site acts weird for the next few minutes, don’t fret, db is upgrading to the latest version of wordpress.

If you aren’t seeing this, then nevermind.

WRR Gadget Review #2

e150062001.jpgBrad Day from The Tech Lounge reviews the SanDisk Sansa E260. It’s a WindowsXP only flash-based MP3 player with a great feature set.

The Sansa e260’s proprietary connection port is located along the bottom of the unit. The headphone port and hold button are found on the top edge. The back of the player is constructed from a material called “Liquidmetal.” Sandisk claims this material, that feels pretty much like hard, matte-finish plastic, is durable and scratch resistant.

You can read the full review here.

Robert’s Soundseeing Tour #14

dsc02337.jpgThe last of the year, but db was late in getting in posted.

Robert gets a chance to drive a Smart. The grandfather of the lads owns one. 3 cylinder diesel, incredible mileage and quite peppy. Plus, it has the cutest little horn. Awwww.

This isn’t the car he drove, but it looked way cooler. Also to note is the lack of snow on the ground. Robert says:

Note the complete lack of snow in Toronto. It’s almost balmy outside. Methinks we’re going to pay for this come February!
