Track Days
- NOT racing. Driver training.
- First time out, make sure there are instructors!
- Relax. Don’t drive beyond your limit. Don’t try to hard.
- Listen to the instructors. Most of them are professional race car drivers
- HAVE FUN!
Be Prepared — Personal
- Long pants, long sleeve shirts.
- New helmet regs. Need SNELL2000 (check this)
- Gloves for sweaty palms or hot weather
- Comfortable shoes
- Hat (to protect against helmet head)
- Water, Gatorade. No SODA!
- Snacks! Trail mix, beef jerky, fruit. Stay away from junk.
- Eat a good breakfast!
- Get a good nights sleep. You will the 2nd night for sure.
Be Prepared — MINI
- Tech inspection: Lug nuts…CHECK BEFORE EVERY RUN!
- Tech inspection: Check tire pressure
- Empty your car. Nothing loose in glovebox, under center console, backseat, boot. Remove cashtray and check rear passenger storage cubby.
- Clean your car, especially windscreen and boot window!
- Make sure everything is tight.
- Check helmet for scratches.
- Check seatbelt for operation On the Track
- Be relaxed.
- Listen to instructors.
- Don’t be afraid to get passed.
- Too amp’ed up? Pull off for a minute.
- Focus on smooth driving. Tire squealing is bad.
- Don’t be afraid to use your brakes!
- Don’t be afraid to hit the redline. That’s what the rev-limitter is for.
- Leave ASC/DSC on, especially if it’s your first time.
Extra Stuff
- Schroth Harness
- Suspension upgrades: Rear sway (yes), front sway (not until you’ve had some track time).
- Brake upgrades: Rotors, pads
- Tires: DITCH THE RUN FLATS!
