Woofcast #143

We’re back from Vegas (baby!) and no worse for wear.

Yes, db, did indeed, get a Mac. Let it go. Don’t worry, he’s going to put Windows on it.

We have almost got all of the AMVIV audio up. Todd has a bit more to post yet, so watch for that.

Very cool to meet all of the listeners and Motoringfile readers. That’s for stopping by and saying hi!

Full AMVIV recap tomorrow. But tonight, we catch up on news of the week (or two) from Motoringfile.

  1. to lock a MINI and walk away without a key? there are two ways i can see:

    1. open boot. fold down one of the rear seats. climb in. flip the toggle switch to lock the car. climb out boot. put folded seat back up. slam boot. voila!

    2. open sunroof required. get into car. flip the toggle to lock car. climb out sunroof. not ideal, since someone else can open car following the same steps in reverse.

  2. >open boot. fold down one of the rear seats. climb in. flip the toggle switch to lock the car. climb out boot. put folded seat back up. slam boot. voila!

Doesn’t that leave the boot unlocked?

  3. To lock a MINI without a key is simple.

You get a Boot Monkey. When you get out he’ll lower the rear seat, lock the MINI, then go back to the boot. :p

  4. Hey Guys, Good show. You finally got rid of the distortion on Gabe’s voice, but he sounded like he was on the verge of falling asleep! You guys must have really had a good time in Vegas!

My apologies. Not only was I still trying to shake off Vegas related cobwebs, but I was in the middle of getting a cold (surely caused by the total lack of sleep in Vegas).

  6. “they’ll never know the simple joys of a monkey knife fight.”

colorado orange + black 2002 alpina racing scheme is what i’d like to see on a MINI.

inka orange is the other BMW 2002 orange, gabe.

  7. Here’s my entry fro how to lock up and leave without a key:

    1. Sit in the passenger seat
    2. With all doors closed, use the central locking switch to lock all doors and hatch
    3. Let yourself out through the passenger door.
    4. Manually lock the passenger door via the door mounted lock.
    5. Squeeze and hold the passenger door handle while closing the door.

All doors and boot are now locked. Only the gas cap remained unlocked on my car. As a side note, if you want to use the remote to unlock the car, you first have to press the lock button. Otherwise the unlock button won’t work.

    Phl

  8. Sit in car.
Flip toggle switch with door open and lock.
    Get out of car.
    Close Door.
    Look at Key. Contemplate.
    Toss Key into lake.
Yell to Wife, need new ’07 Mini.
    Done.

Run from wife as she throws sharp objects…

  9. Actually Phil’s response is exactly what I was looking for but Timmee’s first response holds promise. I’ve got more than one MurMINI shirt up for grabs so after some testing I’ll post the results.

One more creative solution could win a third shirt.

(Fireball Tim’s was entertaining but basically the same as Phil’s so no points there – sorry Tim.)

  10. **FANTASTIC** news! I can confirm that my **FANTASTIC** rear exit method works **FANTASTIC**ally well on my R53!

The boot lock engages when you hit the interior central locking switch. In a **FANTASTIC** manner.

  11. Ha Ha! Here it is, three and a half years after the date of this episode. I’m sitting at In-N-Out, listening to back episodes of the Woofcast while chowing down on my Double-Double. Todd makes his comment about Altimas missing hubcaps. Not thirty seconds later, darned if an Altima doesn’t drive by, minus a rear hubcap! You guys ROCK!
