Woofcast #154

Robert joins us again while Gabe was at MoTD.

Again we start off talking about food. At least it’s not the weather eh?

Robert might have a 2 MINI household soon. As soon as he can talk his wife into giving up the Mustang.

A little club talk. What happened to all the Canadian MINI enthusiasts? Clubs in the US are going gangbusters, while not so much in the Great White North. Comment below with your thoughts.

Todd still has love for the xB. No, really, he does. Don’t let him fool you!

Can anyone heel/toe in Birkenstocks?

Then we get in some great rant time about the price of gas. I’m happy to have finally found someone that has to pay as much as I did. It’s really time to start complaining about this again we think. Oh yea, plus some more tips on how to save gas. Let us know your thoughts on the price of gas in the comments below. Paying too much? Not enough? Let us know!

It’s really something that we were able to actually get this show up tonight. We had serious connection issues tonight due, no doubt, in part to packet shaping by the Canadian ISPs. That’s part of the reason for the echo.

Come back next week when Gabe returns. I’m sure he’s going to be talking about the Dragon, the R56 and the R56 at the Dragon.

  1. Hey db, I get an “Error Opening File” again. If I can’t listen soon I may have to “Work” my first day back from the Dragon 🙁 lol.

  2. Yes it was amazing that the shows got posted at all this week. I spent the last four days fortifying the White Roof Radio studio from the onslaught of flood waters. I now have my own lake on the property after 5 inches of rain in two days. Needless to say it’s not been an easy weekend although it could’ve been worse like the folks who lost everything in the tornado last week so I’m not complaining – too loudly, that is. 😉

My rainman math tells me that close to 3,000 gallons of water have been pumped out by the sump pump over the past three days and the pump is *still* pumping a little over two gallons of water every 65 seconds.

  3. DAMN! Well, that beats my complaint that I can’t have today off to install the Springs that I won at the Dragon 😉
Here in Alabama they’re complaining about not having enough rain and there y’all are with more than you want, Mother Nature is SO Bi-Polar, lol.
No worries on the Woofcast dude, just wanted to make sure someone knew there was an error, take care of the pool, er… I mean basement, and have a good one.

I’m here to help! I don’t want anyone to have to work after the Dragon. It has been fixed!

  5. OK, a gas report from Washington State. They are reporting here that we have the second highest prices just behind Hawaii right now $3.84 is a great price for premium. Thank god I’m averaging 30 MPH with the R56!!!

Also, Tequila myth: There is no worm in Mexican-bottled tequila. Yes, some American-bottled brand(s) put one in their bottle to impress the gringos and boost sales, but it’s only a marketing ploy and not a Mexican tradition. There is a worm – called a gusano (actually a butterfly caterpillar – Hipopta Agavis) – in some types of mezcal. Mezcal is occasionaly passed of to silly gringos for tequila in some less reputable establishments south of the border.

  6. I paid $3.38 for BP premium (93 octane), this past weekend in the Akron/Canton area of Ohio. It seems to have come down a little from the weekend price already though…I couldn’t imagine paying $3.84! Ouch! I’m not happy paying $3.38! But what can we do?

I know in the podcast it was asked for us to share our thoughts on the higher gas prices…umm…it’s not good? I know personally it does impact our yearly household budget such that we’re paying way more than projected on gasoline and thus have less money for other non-essential type items.

  7. I pay ZAR7.01 per liter of 95 octane. At 3.8 liters per US gallon that is ZAR26.6 per gallon. That’s about US$3.84 per gallon.

    ZAR = South African Rand

  8. Gas report from WI It was 3.29 last week for super premium from Fleet Farm. If any of you know what that is. I also have a question I have a 2007 R56 cooper non s and i put in 12.6 gallons is that even posable? OM says aprox. 10.6 gallons including the reserve of 2 gallons. I had 2 bars left on the gage. They were red but not near empty. Thanks.

  9. Just filled the tank 1 euro a litre, I know it’s cheaper than other places in Europe, but it is still expensive(about $5.20 a gallon!)

I believe I read on NAM that was a misprint in the manual. Total is actually 12.somthing gallons.

  11. In my area in the UK it’s costing about the equivalent of $93 for a tank of 95 octane fuel and around $99 for a tank of V-Power (98 Octane) at the moment!

  12. Here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada we are paying $1.129CDN per litre for regular. I think this translates to about $3.89US per US gallon.

There is a “thing” that happens here though, most places will charge 3.5 cents per litre less than the posted price. Some places, like the large grocery store linked stations, charge 5 cents per litre less than the advertised price.

    (non-sequiter alert)

One good thing is that a bunch of the fuel price is taxes, so fuel ends up having a “Sin Tax” levied on it like tobacco or alcohol. The worse your fuel mileage, the more tax you pay. I can tell you that it is the small government, low taxes conservatives around here that are driving the guzzlers and the lefty pinkos that are driving the sipping commuter-mobiles. Hey, the rich are finally paying…

    (non-sequiter alert)

In Iran (according to the PRI’s The World Tech Podcast) they are paying $0.09US per litre with large subsidies from the Government. BUT, the Government is going to increase the price by 25% and they are rationed to 4 litres per day.

  13. The WRR shirt I got from db is great! The logo peeled off leaving me with this snazzy, comfy red shirt that goes perfectly with my car.

And if you pair the red shirt with a pair of khaki pants, you too can work at Target.
