Todd and Michael, I have an '05 R50 and moved to Decorah, IA from the east coast about two years ago. I use the locally available 91 octane E10 premium which is available at several (but not all) stations and represents the highest octane rating available. I have not noticed a degradation in performance. I suspect the ECU adapted to the E10 fuel long ago. I've never had a CEL or related problem. That said, it seems that I cannot quite achieve the same level of fuel efficiency I enjoyed in northern VA -- perhaps 2 mpg less during the comparable summer months on average. The biggest PITA in IA is that it is not uncommon to pull into a station and find NO premium fuel available at all. Perhaps a third of the distributors sell nothing higher than 89 E10. I stay away from them.

I am also looking for the "You just got passed by a girl" badge. I would like to get one for my wife's MC. She is fast becoming an enthuiast herself! Of course I'm the one keeping it clean. :)

I have bird crap, dirty wheels and no motoring badges (Todd, where are the "You just got passed by a girl" badges?) but I am a total MINI enthusiast. People who don't wave make me INSANE though. Wave, monkeys, wave!

Dude, was I the only one who inserted a quick mental "whiteroofradio" at the end of Mr. McDowell's interview, lol? ;-)
