Starting off reminding you that we had a really great episode of Black Roof Radio this week, mostly because CHAD IS BACK! Starting off with some Fiat 500 bashing, Todd’s F56 is about the same size as the Roadster, Chad couldn’t fit an ice chest in the truck of a Jetta and I got new tires. Plus some talk about extended warranties and how much better the F56 is over the R50/53/56.
Keep an eye on Detroit Tuned. Besides the ever growing list of services that Chad and his team does from software updates to tuning and chassis tuning, there is a brand new website coming very soon. Be sure to follow @DetroitTuned on social media for all of the updates!
Finally joined by Gabe from MotoringFile who catches us up on the JCW Countryman (vs. the X2), the BMW M5 and extols to us the virtues of an F56 Cooper with manual transmission. Plus some discussion about my anxiety with my Roadster. Working up a post for dbmini to go into more detail. Stay tuned.
A quick technical note: I have spent some time this last week getting the sites cleaned up and running much faster! I’m hoping this helps to cure the errors and crashing we have been experiencing for quite a while. If you see something go amiss, please let us know! @WhiteRoofRadio on twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
That’s right, 13 years ago White Roof Radio started as just 2 guys talking about MINI Coopers. Many of you were there when we started, and we really appreciate you sticking with us! For this week, Todd talks cracked windscreen, I talk cracked fuel filter housing plus we were impressed with the turn out of #mtts2018. Looks like you all had a great time and we are bummed that we missed it!
Hoping to get with Gabe as soon as possible so he can tell us all about the new company; the JCW Countryman. Chad as well for the latest updates from Detroit Tuned. And I’m also bugging the crap out of Brian to get him back because I think some of you would like to hear from a newly minted Subaru owner.
Thanks for sticking around as we enter our 14th year of podcasting under the White Roof! Thank as well to our fine and good looking sponsors Outmotoring and CravenSpeed who have been with us almost from the beginning. Make sure to show them some love! And, of course, everything is made so much easier by those of you that are in the Black Roof Radio club. Thank you all for your continued support!
Todd, Chad and I this week. Talking a little about sales, a little about used vs. new, a little bit about #mtts2018. If you are a Patron, we talked a little more about MTTS this week as well. If you aren’t a Patron, click over and join the club! WEST COAST MTTS’ers, look for Colin from KC in a PW JCW with MTTS Graphics. He has the last of the limited edition Motoring Stripes grill badges!
I’m tired of using my images for show notes again! It’s your turn, so ping us @whiteroofradio on Instagram or Twitter and a picture of your MINI could be featured!
Gabe joins us this week after the most awkward intro in quite a while. Some fun Black Roof Radio this week too, and some bonus BRR coming later this week! If you aren’t getting it, maybe you would like to? Patreon.com/whiteroofradio.
More of me complaining about MINI advertising, talking about sales and #mtts2018 among other things.
In which db & Todd get caught up after more than a month of not making a show. If you want more of the gory details, check out this week’s Black Roof Radio. Once we get passed all of that, we do, of course, talk about MINIs.
Check out this weeks show image; leave it to Todd to make a 4 door MINI look amazing! Of course we talk about the Bubble Car, which sold for $US36K. I’ll be taking bets on whether or not Gabe keeps the Clubman and adds it to his stable of vehicles. We talk about that because it’s a good place to start talking about the new Countryman. And for Todd to rant, briefly, on the CRV.
We talk about the price of gas and this very interesting article at Jalopnik about the actual price of fuel over the years. It is definitely worth the read.
We are due to get Chad back on the show for his Dragon recap, but he did just install a new Dyno (!) at the shop that you should be driving over to right now to get your MINI tuned and dyno’d! I have heard amazing things about the last Southwest MINIfest, well done SCMM! Next up, #MTTS2018! If you are starting from the Pacific Northwest, you know you are going to be starting off with CravenSpeed’s MTTS Kick off party, right? And you are going to be checking out OutMotoring to get stocked up on personal gear and those DIY repairs items before you go too, right? And a visit over to Motoring Stripes to get the “official” MTTS decals and magnets for your MINI, right? Right!
In case you missed it, I have started doing a Podcast with Fireball Tim again. It’s a great show, talking about Hollywood stuff, car stuff, die cast car stuff and some random silliness. You can find it in Apple Podcasts, with 5 episodes done so far. Would be really cool if you guys were to check it out! If you want to check it out without subscribing, you can listen to it here.
